Who Needs Makeup? 2 Easy Tips To Get Your Skin Looking Beautifully Natural

By

Looking great doesn’t always require a lot of makeup. Besides, having too much of it on can not only make your complexion “cake-like” and unflattering, it can add to skin irritation and make your skin highly prone to acne breakouts. Learning how to care for your skin in an effective, simple manner is sufficient enough to bring forth your natural beauty. Using tons of makeup by the way, is so 90’s.

For many women, and teenagers especially, keeping it healthy and natural just isn’t something they know how to do. Teenaged girls in particular just cannot wait to start experimenting with cosmetics and to look all “grown up”. They then break out in acne and try to hide it with even more foundation and this forms the beginning of a vicious cycle.

The key to looking beautifully “au natural “ is simple. Here’s how to get started:

Tip #1 - Lose The Foundation

Make do without the foundation, especially if your skin really doesn’t require it. First of all, foundation is hard to maintain especially after a long day, especially if you have oily skin. Sweat, facial oil and heat just do not mix well with cosmetic foundation and you’ll have apply more during your day to prevent that “melted” look. This is exactly what we want to avoid when looking our natural best.

For those of you who are acne sufferers, I understand that going out to face the world without foundation might be a scary thought, and for many women, foundation arms them with confidence. Try and go without it and instead, apply on a good moisturizer instead to give your face that healthy glow. For those with acne scarring or red marks, a tinted moisturizer might be the way to go.

Another alternative is to go with powder foundation or mineral makeup which is better for your skin and allows it to breathe a lot more easily, and isn’t quite as heavy. Many of these products contain SPF protection as well which is an added bonus especially if you spend numerous hours outdoors. Skin damage caused by UV light isn’t immediately visible so you might not even realize that your skin’s been sunburnt. It’ll be years later that these fine lines, wrinkles and skin pigmentation show up, so cover up well!

Tip # 2 - Don't Forget Your Lips

Kissable lips are always a much desired trait. So keep it simple here. A natural look is the way to go. Apply on some clear lip gloss for that pouty look, and they look great in almost every season. Just stay away from the heavy lipstick and avoid deep red colors, they’re no longer attractive. If you must, stick to lighter shades instead. Pale shades of pink are an absolute killer especially when combined with a gloss factor.

These 2 simple tips are a start to being in-style as well as looking your best. What’s the best part of going semi-natural you ask? Well, you’ve just saved yourself about an hour each day and your skin’s going to thank you for it.

you are quite right about not using a lot of makeup. my mother has almost never used foundation and she still has very young looking skin at 53. the problem with my skin is that it is very sensitive. whenever i use sun block, i start getting pimples so i have no alternative but to try to protect myself from sun as much as i can. voted up and useful :)
